The Kalisher Scholarship Trust is delighted to announce the first in a series of internships. This initiative is designed to give talented young barristers a unique opportunity to work in some of the most exciting areas of the law.
In partnership with the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), the Kalisher Scholarship Trust has awarded a six-month internship to David Weeks, a Law graduate from Southampton University. David has just completed the Bar Professional Training Course at Kaplan Law School.
Commenting on the internship, David has said that “When the opportunity to undertake an internship with the Commission arose, I jumped at the chance. The internship with the Criminal Cases Review Commission will present me with the opportunity to enhance my legal knowledge and test the skills I have developed, undertaking work in cases where individuals’ rights and liberties have been severely affected. I hope this experience will be a stepping stone to securing a pupillage, and I am incredibly grateful to the Commission and the Kalisher Trust for giving me this fantastic opportunity”.
The internship will begin in January 2012 and will give David an insight into complex casework, case management, and in-depth legal research. The internship will allow real involvement in the day-to-day work of the CCRC, helping a talented young barrister progress toward a career at the Criminal Bar.
The Kalisher Scholarship Trust will announce further internships with other leading legal organisations early in 2012.
