The Old Bailey Apprentice

Now in its second year, this scheme offers a unique opportunity for a sixth form student to be mentored by His Honour Judge Marks QC, the Common Serjeant, who is the second most senior judge at the Old Bailey. A pupil from a City of London Academy spends a year with the Common Sergeant, trying cases at the Old Bailey, attending lectures and other functions. The Apprentice has the rare chance to see ‘behind the scenes’ at the Central Criminal Court.

For this year’s apprenticeship, pupils from the City of London Academies (Hackney, Islington and Southwark) will shortly be interviewed for the award of the Old Bailey Apprentice.

The first Old Bailey Apprentice is currently studying law at Warwick.
