Mini, midi and maxi internships for 6th form pupils
Kalisher organises a series of mini, midi and maxi internships for 6th form school pupils, funded by our working partners. A competitive entry process guarantees that precious internships are restricted to those who show a real interest in a career in the law.
Prestigious London Chambers
With generous assistance from four prestigious London Chambers (2 Bedford Row, 25 Bedford Row, Doughty Street, and 23 Essex Street), 6th form pupils spend time in Chambers and accompany barristers to Court to observe proceedings.
Each ‘intern’ is expected to provide written comments on trials observed, using Kalisher pro forma sheets, and can obtain feedback on court procedures from mentors in each set of Chambers.
Crown Court observation
Additionally, Kalisher organises the opportunity for pupils to shadow Crown Court Judges in London or more convenient regional Crown Courts.
Travel, accommodation and food costs are not covered by the Trust and ‘interns’ are expected to take full responsibility for getting themselves to and from Chambers. Parental support is crucial so that all health and safety, child protection and other core safety rules set by Chambers and Crown Courts can be met.
Those pupils who demonstrate what it takes to pursue a career at the criminal Bar will receive further Kalisher mentoring and advice.
