Winners Announced: Queen Mary University of London Debating Competition

The Kalisher Trust was pleased to assist with the inaugural debating competition run by the Criminal Justice Society.  The virtual debating competition took place on Saturday, 6th February; judges Nutan Fatania, Max Hardy, Margaret Obi and Garry Green observed three debates and then a final.

The winners were Billie Adrienne Axtell and Viktoria Moerk-Moerkenstein.  Billie said:

‘This was an extremely exciting opportunity offered by the Kalisher Trust. As someone who had no previous experience of advocacy and little experience working with barristers, this competition opened my eyes to a world of opportunities. Thank you so much to the Queen Mary Criminal Justice Society, and the Kalisher Trust – as well as the judges who made this incredible experience a reality.’

Viktoria added ‘This debate, organised by Queen Mary’s Criminal Justice Society, confirmed once again my love for advocacy. So thankful to be chosen as a winner!’
