Kalisher’s University of Birmingham LLM Scholar selected for 2021-2022
We are pleased to announce that Tomos McFarlane has been selected as the Kalisher scholar for the University of Birmingham LLM course for 2021-2022. As usual, the standard of applications was high this year – congratulations Tomos for your achievement! Tomos reflected on his success:
I am so grateful to be in receipt of this award as it has opened so many doors for me. Knowing that the pursuit of my legal studies will be my sole concern (without having to worry about financial constraints), ensures that I am able to produce my best work on a level playing field. My journey through education has not been as conventional as my fellow peers, yet I feel that these testing times have made me a more resolute and driven individual, determined to succeed at the Bar. The pathway to the Bar can be deemed ‘exclusive’ and therefore unattainable for those from poorer backgrounds, but it is thanks to the Kalisher Trust (and all those involved) for removing barriers for those like myself to achieve their dream career paths. All I can say is thank you so much for believing in me and showing that anyone can succeed at the Bar, regardless of their background.
