About this event

Inspired by the “Belfast rugby rape trial” in 2018, this incisive play by Irish writer Caitríona Daly explores the grey area of “he-said, she-said” allegations and was the winner of the Writers Guild of Ireland award for Best Theatre Script 2022.

When his best friend becomes embroiled in a rape allegation, Chris Quinn offers his support. During the 2-year wait for the trial, loyalty, friendship, family ties and certainty are all put to the test. Full of moral ambiguity and psychological complexity, this viscerally-charged new play constantly shifts our perspective on ideas of consent, trust, and trial by social media.

And now, at Middle Temple Hall (with special guests) – the Kalisher Trust invites you to an exclusive performance of this superb new production, for one night only!

About our annual theatrical evening

Middle Temple hall is used to theatrics! And not just from its barrister members. In 1602, the hall was the venue for the first ever performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. So it seems fitting that as a key event in our fundraising calendar, the annual Kalisher Trust play reading would take place there. The goal is not just to offer an evening of entertainment, but also to use the play’s material to raise themes pertinent to the work of Trust and wider criminal justice system.

We look forward to welcoming you again this year.
