‘I found getting feedback on what I personally was doing well and what I need to focus on to be immensely powerful…the presence of senior judges giving feedback adds immense value to the workshops’

It really has changed the way I think about advocacy and my own skills’

Advocacy Trainee 2018

Participating in the spring advocacy training program gave me the skills and confidence that I needed going into the scholarship interview process for the BPTC. As a result, I was awarded a major advocacy award from BPP University and a major named scholarship from Middle Temple. Without these awards studying for the Bar would have been impossible. I am immeasurably thankful to the Trust and my cohort for all their hard work and assistance in helping me start to realise my dream of joining the criminal Bar. During the first half of the program we were taught by instructors from the acting and opera worlds, which was incredibly helpful in developing the soft skills needed for the Bar, as well as a touch hilarious at times. The program culminated in giving submissions to senior members of the judiciary in the historic Court 1 of the Old Bailey, which was an amazing experience and honour.
