Debating workshops at Thomas Middlecott Academy

Students in Year 8 and 9 at the Thomas Middlecott Academy School are currently taking part in debates against their peers from other David Ross Education Trust academies, as part of a programme set up by the Kalisher Trust.

The Kalisher Trust is a legal charity that is working in partnership with DRET to help students develop the important life skills of persuasion and public speaking.

Throughout the year the Kalisher Trust delivers coaching sessions for both students and staff and will host debating finals at the University of Nottingham in the summer term.

Mr Lawe, Enrichment Manager at Thomas Middlecott Academy, said: “The students are growing in confidence and learning skills that will be incredibly important in their future lives, from applying for college and university to job interviews.”
