Kalisher Trust visits the LSE for Law outreach day

Kalisher Trust joins the LSE for Law outreach day

On the 15th January representatives of the Kalisher Trust (Merry Van Woodenberg, Rhiannon Crimmins, Max Hardy, Lady-Gene Waszkewitz, Ryan Evans and Ed Gross) were hosted by the LSE for an event which formed part of their Pathways to Law programme. The evening involved our volunteers, along with members of the solicitors profession, taking part in a ‘speed networking’ session with budding law students. Each student was in the first year of A Level study and from a background under-represented in higher education and the legal sector.

The format of the evening saw students split into small groups and rotate around tables where different legal professionals were poised to take their questions. There was a real sense of enthusiasm and interest from all the students, as our volunteers answered a wide variety of questions, ranging from the difference between a barrister and solicitor, the different routes they took into the profession, and whether it is possible to be a barrister and maintain a social life!

This was a highly rewarding evening, with our volunteers providing a valuable insight on life at the Criminal Bar for those taking the first steps towards a legal career.
